This week I have mostly been eating cheese toasties and managed to lose 8lbs!! They were Slimming World friendly toasties of course…2 slices of wholemeal bread from a 400g loaf, along with 2 slices of Cathedral City Lighter – so a HEB and a HEA per sandwich. I was also loading them up as much as was physically possible with mushrooms and tomatoes, and was then dunking them into homemade tomato soup which was also syn free and very much Slimming World friendly. If someone had told me years ago that I could eat cheese toasties and still lose weight I would never have believed them! As I’m in this for the long haul, and have mentioned before, finding healthy alternatives to my old junk food favourites is crucial; the cheese toasties have definitely helped with the pizza craving!
Another thing that helped with the pizza craving was the lovely cheesey omelette my lovely other half made for me. Lovely that was until I found out the eggs he’d used had somehow frozen and then defrosted again in the fridge, yet he used them anyway…a night on the toilet beckoned and potentially contributed to the 8lbs weight loss…bitter sweet!! He doesn’t have a good track record with omelettes…I think my first ever blog was about the omelette he made for me, garnished with a pubic hair!!!
So yesterday after weigh in I had my usual Tuesday blow-out. This consisted of a pork and stuffing batch, a breakfast batch, a Greggs sausage roll, an Animal bar, 2 cheese and smoked ham toasties, and 6 packets of Pom Bear crisps. Excessive, I know, however I will admit that I still wanted my favourite ‘kebab in a spicy tomato sauce’ dish from our lovely local kebab house. I decided to write down my days intake – or inhale – to see if this changed how I felt, and it did! I couldn’t believe how much crap I’d eaten, yet still wanted to eat more. Keeping a food diary even when you’ve had a bad day really helps being things into perspective and stops you in your tracks. I know my blow out days aren’t healthy, but I know that 6 days out of 7 is not a bad track record and would be sustainable long term for me. When I’ve got such a long way to go, I do find that it helps to keep me on track, and if it’s working at the moment then I’m not going to change it! As I get closer to my goal weight…still a very tiny pin-head dot on the very distant horizon…then I know that my lovely pork and stuffing batches will have to become lean pork in a wholemeal roll with no stuffing. But for now I’m helping to keep my local butcher / batch bar in business!
Losing 8lbs has put me back on track for my 8st loss by Christmas. I received my 7 and a half stone award yesterday and have lost a total of 7st 8.5lbs, so 5.5lbs to get over the next 2 weigh ins. Doable I think, as I’ve just checked my weight record and have still managed to have 2.5 / 3lb losses after a decent loss the week before…my worry was that, after an 8lb loss, I would only have a small loss next week. But, I will do what I can and stick to plan and make sure I continue eating lots of free food.
Just a quick note before I go, for anyone thinking that eating less will help you lose weight on Slimming World, it won’t! I ate more last week than I have since being diagnosed with diabetes and, at times, felt really full and was concerned that I wouldn’t lose as much as I had been doing. I was very pleased when I got on the scales to see my concerns blown out of the water! So the moral of my story is…eat!! Enjoy your free food!
Love to you all,
