Oh well, it was bound to happen and, with the week of junk food I’ve had, I deserve it. I’ve been eating things that I wasn’t enjoying whilst eating them and I really should have slammed the brakes on earlier in the week. Whilst I’m on the subject of slamming the brakes on, I nearly crashed into the back of a van today as I was so excited at seeing someone decorating their Christmas tree in their window. Two lessons learnt from that; one – concentrate at all times whilst driving, and two – stop being such a noses bugger! Back to Slimming World…
…I put on 2.5lbs!
I had another appointment with the dietician this morning which was a little strange. She was very happy with my progress, but seems to have changed her tune regarding the weight loss surgery. Whilst previously she was focussing on getting me losing weight and eating healthily, and seemed to support the fact that I didn’t really want the surgery but wanted a decent support network in place, she seems to have done a 180 and wants me to have it. Basically her message was that it would help me lose weight quicker and that my diabetes would disappear overnight. However, I’m really proud of my progress and am actually losing more with Slimming World than most people lose after the surgery. She told me my weight would plateau, which I know is going to happen during this journey, but seemed to be encouraging me towards the surgery. Now I know these guys have my best interests at heart, but surely surgery is never the best option if someone is showing positive signs of being able to lose weight whilst eating healthily. Giving them support along the way would be the best option, no? Perhaps I’m being cynical, but I assume it’s cheaper to cut someone open than it is to give ongoing support; but then you have to have post-surgery support too! It’s left me a little confused as I was quite happy with my Slimming World losses, and now I’m questioning myself and whether or not I can actually do it on my own!
Anyway, to help me refocus I bought the new ‘Entertaining’ book from Slimming World and it has some lovely sounding recipes, like a Leek and Cannellini Bean Soup – basically leek and potato but with added beans…the picture looks lovely and I’m hoping it turns out this way when we cook it this week! It’ll be great for Christmas party meals and buffet foods, and has some lovely recipes in for ‘cosy’ nights with the other half!
I’m determined to have a good loss next week, but think I’m going to have to adjust my 8st pre-Christmas target as there are only three weigh-ins left with 13.5lbs to go…a little bit too much, but you never know!
For now my lovelies, have a wonderful week,
