It’s official; the longstanding relationship I’ve had with KFC is officially over!
After a rather fraught week, during which my other half’s Nana passed away, Slimming World has gone out of the window and has been replaced by white bread batches filled with pork and stuffing and bacon, sausage, egg and tomato, along with crisps, chicken kebabs, duck fat roasted potatoes, and today an 8 piece KFC deluxe boneless box all to myself.
I decided to head to a local horse showground to watch the ‘fun eventing’ class…for a translation of ‘fun eventing’ read ‘rained on riders riding wet horses around a slippy arena jumping over obstacles’! On the way I got caught in a traffic jam and, not wanting the KFC to go cold, started tucking into the chips. At which point two teenage boys decided to saunter past the car, with one saying to the other “look at that fat girl in that car”…my witty retort was, “what’s your problem you effing prick?”…my wit was left with my dignity and sanity at the KFC drive thru window! So it was at this point that I decided to terminate my relationship with KFC!! I have recently heard abut BBQ flavoured fry spray and so have decided to cook chicken breast and syn free chips with this whenever I feel a KFC craving coming on!
I also felt really guilty at this point, as I was a fat girl in a car, so they were right! I wouldn’t have felt as bad about their comments had I not had my chubby little paws inside a bag of KFC chips at the time. Having spent £13.99 on my ‘feast’ I started to get annoyed with myself, as I have wanted to send a decent donation of food to the local food bank and that would have bought a nice amount of the staples that are regularly required at these places. So, along with my home cooked KFC, I am going to make a donation each time I get a craving and hope that the warm fuzzy donation feeling I get will soon start to overpower the warm fuzzy naughty food feeling!
The key to my Slimming World is going to be finding suitable, healthy alternatives to my favourite high calorie no-no’s. I’ve already cracked the lasagne replacement, and we can make a mean curry, along with a lovely cheesey, peppery mushroom sauce that goes great with steak. Obviously burgers are sorted with either Quorn or homemade replacements, and can be enjoyed loaded with HEA cheese and a HEB wholemeal roll with salad. Once I’ve got the KFC replacement cracked, I think I’ll be we’ll on the way! I’ve also decided to base my TV viewing on BBC channels, as this way I’ll miss the food adverts! Seriously though, when we had Sky + it was so easy to skip the adverts, with their tempting food products, but it plays havoc with your good intentions when you’re bombarded with food adverts, especially at this time of year.
On a far more positive note, a hospital visit yesterday saw my diabetic nurse and consultant incredibly pleased with my progress. Since my last visit, 3 months ago, I’ve lost over 20kg and 20cm off my waist apparently and, according to the consultant, he’s never had a patient lose so much in such a short space of time. They had been planning on increasing my medication, but have now decided to leave it as it is due to my progress! Hopefully next time they’ll be as happy too.
For now my lovelies, goodbye!
