Can be found on Sky channel 262…it’s such an awesome channel – Food Network! I have watched this for some time now; Adam Richman on Man vs Food and Americas Best Sandwich, and Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, but I came to the conclusion whilst watching the other day that this is my porn. What made me come to such a conclusion you might ask? Well, the salivating and the noises coming out of my mouth, despite the fact that I wasn’t the one eating the food, certainly contributed! I was having empathy pleasure watching Adam getting his chops around a ‘Po Boy’ – a lovely looking baguette based sandwich, filled with crispy shrimp, salad and home made chilli dressings – it looked immense. I followed this with the ‘money-shot’…Adam Richman tucking into a huge ice cream concoction called ‘the Sink’ as it comes served in a stainless steel sink – oh, the Americans and their sense of humour!
Whilst I love watching this channel, I also find it slightly disturbing that people travel around a country trying to out do Mother Nature by filling themselves to bursting point, or by eating something so spicy that it defeats them! I’ve watched Adam get what he calls a ‘food hangover’, when he’s eaten so much that he feels drunk…his eyes glaze over, his skin looks pale and grey, and he’s sweating so much that it’s dripping onto his plate of food. Not really a pretty sight! Whilst I do love my food and, going back a few months, I’d love to have tasted some of the stuff these guys get to, I just couldn’t do it now. Don’t get me wrong, some of what they eat looks lovely and could pass as healthy, but most of it contains so much fat and sugar that I think I’d end up leaving America in a box. It made me reflect on my old eating habits; I too would eat until bursting point, I too would be sweating and puffing for breath, I too would have to either undo or roll my trousers down…all to get that pleasurable ‘overdose’ feeling. It was like getting a hug from the inside, but in reality all that was getting hugged were my internal organs from all of the fat surrounding them!!
Onwards and upwards now though…or onwards and downwards should I say! I lost another 3lbs last week, so that’s 7st 3lbs in total, with 11lbs left to get my Christmas target and only 4 weeks to go! Despite losing weight this week, I must admit to being slightly disappointed as I’d been so good and had hoped, given my huge size, to have lost a bit more. My Slimming World consultant doesn’t think I’m eating enough carbs, so I’m aiming to do this…although I have to admit to having a couple of days not 100% on plan. There’s no real reason for this, but I have experienced this before and it has helped to boost my weight losses…almost shaking things up a bit!
I’ll be off now, and I hope you all have a lovely week!
P.S. Quote of the week from my niece as I’m getting in the car to drive her to the horses…”Stop it, you’re shaking the car too much”…will have to get some sturdier suspension!! To read my 30st plus weight loss journey from the beginning please click here!
