Bloody breadsticks! Those little sticks of loveliness caused a bit of a ruckus between my other half and I today 🙂
I would like to put it down to stress…but it is because I am a madam! Today has been manic – rushing around with last minute preparations for tomorrow. Hobby Craft, Staples, an ink cartridge refill shop, Asda, getting the car washed to transport Jessie and Jill from HOOP…don’t forget that we are horse owners…so our car is usually full of bits of straw, hay and baling twine!
When the shopping was bought in the house, my boxes of breadsticks had been bent in half and I just went a bit loopy…you can send sympathy wishes my other half’s way. He had to duck as I threw them across the kitchen…so they were well and truly broken. My other half didn’t help the situation when he uttered the words, “They are designed to be snapped in half anyway.” I came so close to stuffing them somewhere that the sun doesn’t shine! 😉
Once the rant was over, we realised that we had to head back out again as I had forgotten to pick a click and collect order up! Bloody typical! I then got the car washed at one of these drive thru places…I hate doing this as I feel so lazy. Having people washing the car that I got dirty makes me feel awful…so I gave them an extra fiver! Guilt costs me so much!
In between all of the stress, I did manage to check my emails, which contained a little beauty from ‘Just Eat’…my old best friend. It was a newsletter that contained an article on healthy eating choices from takeaways. At first I kind of snorted when I read it…if you want to eat healthily, then you don’t order from a takeaway – surely?! But then I realised that this is real life, and that people on healthy eating plans occasionally eat takeaways…but feel immense amounts of guilt afterwards as they think they have blown it. So perhaps this little article was worth further exploration after all.
It discussed that deep frying was not great (no shit, Sherlock!) but that if you chose chunky chips instead of French fries, that this was a better option. Stir-fries are a good option – as the food is sliced thinner and doesn’t need quite so much cooking…grilling, griddling and searing is also a good option. Boiled rice, steamed food, pan-fried, baked…the information was okay actually…I shouldn’t have been so dismissive. You should take a look at the link in cases of takeaway desperation!
It reminded me of those eating out guides that I had seen from Slimming World actually. Stuff like choosing tomato-based sauces instead of creamy sauces in an Italian restaurant. Veggie curries that are tomato or balti based instead of creamy kormas and masalas. I ate out last weekend and swapped chips for jacket potatoes and option for grilled tomatoes and pineapple with my gammon instead of fried mushrooms and fried eggs…it was fairly easy to make those changes, and I didn’t feel that I was missing out.
Anyway, I am not going to harp on tonight as I still have a lot to do before sleep beckons!
Other than the above stuff that I have mentioned for today, we also managed to see the kids briefly and then saw to the horses. Although it has been busy, I quite like it – I thrive off it at times.
Breakfast: Blackberry and banana porridge (6.5 syns).
Today’s food has been nice! My usual porridge and fruit combo, followed by a jacket potato that I picked up whilst I was out and about. Dinner was just something that was quick and simple…and that wasn’t a takeaway!
Exercise: I have exercised little other than my mouth today!
