It’s been another fabulous day in the Highlands!
I spent most of my time eating various bits of food from the sea…and then working out this evening in my own little private gym – this is the life!
Mum, Mr WLB, and I headed to Oban today. It’s such a gorgeous place – and the drive there is good fun…I love driving and sometimes make ‘vroom’ noises as I drive along these roads!
Of course, we had to head to the Green Hut on the pier – I cannot sing the praises of the seafood there enough. The people who work there are so lovely and we had a nice chat today…I promised to head back before they close for the season! I also got chatting to an American au pair who lives in Paris and is currently holidaying in Scotland – phew! She had never tried oysters or mussels…so my Mum and I were giving her a taste of our food – and we were chatting about her job and college and her holiday – she was lovely.
A few people did stare a little too long at me today. I think this was partly due to the amount of seafood I consumed…and also partly down to them being ignorant bollock chops! I said to Mr WLB that I occasionally wished that he would do a Quinn off Homeland – that will only mean something to you if you watch Homeland! I can’t help but care and wonder what people think of me…but I am doing well with my ‘don’t give a shit’ mantra – I kept on eating seafood anyway!
We also took my old dog to the beach as she loves it there…and it blows away the cobwebs nicely.
We enjoyed a few local delights – a delicious dark espresso chocolate and a beautiful salted caramel dark chocolate. I prefer dark chocolate as it doesn’t give me the ongoing cravings that milk stuff does. My Mum had a gorgeous carrot cake and a few chocolates and a wonderful looking cinnamon hot chocolate. Mr WLB opted for his usual cheesecake and chamomile tea. I was fairly restrained but happily admitted that I could spend all day in there and would need to be rolled out of the delivery doors at the back of the shop!
We then decided that it might be an idea to head to the shops and stock up for tomorrow as we are expecting a bit of a storm on the coast – lots of weather warnings in place and I don’t fancy trying to get across on the ferry if the weather is that bad. Once we were all stocked up, we head back to the cottage and I hit the gym. I need to remember to rest between sets though as I almost killed myself today – but feel amazing now…I love the way exercise makes me feel – alive, happy, blessed out…it feels good to be using my body.
Oh – and we have also arranged a session of clay pigeon shooting…with some cross bow and air rifle stuff thrown in too…so next week is going to be jam-packed!
I am off to spend the evening relaxing with my lovely Mum and Mr WLB now…he wants me to plan some routes for him to cycle over the next few days…his internal compass is a bit shite and he’d end up in Malta instead of Malaig I reckon!
Today’s food looked like this…
Exercise: Over an hour of lifting weights…it felt amazing!
