Apologies for the lack of blog post last night – my knickers were soaking wet! 🙂
I had spent the day moving my horses to their new winter field…in the rain. I hitched up my trailer…in the rain. One decided that he wanted to prance around rearing instead of loading…in the rain. The other two were quite good, but one decided to crush my right hand…in the rain. Then he decided to crush my left foot…in the rain. Then I had to sort the water supply out…in the rain. Then I needed to hook up the electric fencing…in the rain.
I think you get the picture.
It was wet.
My waterproof jacket was not very waterproof at all. In fact, my clothes were wetter than they are when they come out of the washing machine…I needed to go on a spin cycle.
Add this to the fact that my boiler is buggered and I have no central heating, it’s no wonder that I was shivering for most of the evening and just wanted to sit in front of the fire. I even considered turning to whisky to warm me up! 🙂
I managed to fit my Pilates class in before doing all of that. I also managed a trip to the shops. Then I caught up with an old friend who came to have a look at my Mums mare for a potential loan…my Mum is very attached to her horse though so I am not sure how it will pan out. I think the realisation of parting with her may be setting in. My friend was here for a horsey event so it made sense to take the opportunity to introduce her to my Mum and her mare. This was last night.
Then I did something that my Scottish Grandad – God rest his soul – would have been very proud of. Ever one for a bargain or a freebie he would have been thrilled that my Mum and I got to view the city’s best firework displays without spending a single penny! 😉
We were driving back from the stables and the road we take has an elevated view of the city. As we were driving we spotted some amazing fireworks and so decided to pull over. We happened upon it by chance, but there were other cars in with people who looked well prepared for the occasion! We saw at least six professional displays and lots of posh displays in big houses by the looks of things. It was fab! I love fireworks…free ones are even better! 😉
Today has been fairly sedate. I went to see my Dad as it’s his birthday tomorrow, so I spent some time with him. I also went to see the horses who seem to have settled in well at the new field. I took them some parsnips, swede, and carrots and took their rugs off as it was a nice sunny day. I popped to the shops. I cooked dinner. I did a bit of housework. My Mum came over.
She made me laugh actually!
We were chatting about my weight loss this year. It’s been a lot less than I had hoped for. But feck it – I have worked hard and am proud – I think I’ve shifted just under 3st…it’s been a tough year. However, the things I have done this year have been fantastic…the theatre, comedy gigs, rock climbing, canoeing, my personal training sessions, cycling, shooting clay pigeons and air rifles, hill climbing, archery…so I am more than happy with progress.
Anyway. We were chatting about what else is left on my hit-list. I really want to ski again…and then my most obvious one is get back in the saddle and ride my horses. And then I am done. I will be thrilled to ride and ski. I will do more of the above…but that’s it. I am happy. Obviously I will do other things, but in terms of my wish-list when I was at my biggest, then most of it has been ticked off.
I am heading to Lapland UK with my niece and nephew…and I am considering taking them snow tubing which will be such good fun. So we were talking about snow activities. Mr WLB mentioned snow boarding and my Mum said, ‘You can’t snowboard with your dodgy ankles…you’re a clumsy cunt at the best of times!’ It was hilarious…my Mum never uses the C-word.
She immediately turned to me and said, ‘It’s your fault that I am using that word…your blog!’
So I owe anyone who has used the C-word since reading my blog an apology. Or maybe I don’t. Maybe you find it quite cathartic too! 😉
I have skiing on the brain now but have no idea how I would find boots to fit my fats legs and ankles. It is suspected that I have lipoedema, which leaves me with tree-truck shaped legs…and they may stay like that regardless of how much weight I shift. So if you’re a professional ski boot fitter and have any suggestions, then please let me know!
My weekend has been good. Good company, good activity, good food.
It’s my third interview this week. My PT has just messaged me to suggest spinning and heavy squats tomorrow…I suggested a lie-in and scrambled eggs…I am spinning and squatting! 😉 I have some coaching sessions scheduled this week too. I love my coaching work – it’s amazing to see people making progress and the power of the transformations in the way people think continues to astound and inspire me. One client has totally turned around her eating – which is all self-driven and nothing to do with me – she is amazing and I feel privileged to get to support her in any way I can.
Right then. That’s it from me. I hope you’ve had a fab weekend and that you’ve managed to do things that continue to support your goals! 🙂
Today’s food looked like this…
Breakfast: Hot smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, wilted spinach, and tomatoes.
Lunch: Carrot and butternut squash soup with a cheese toastie (2 x HEA and 2 x HEB).
Dinner: Kale, sprouts, red onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, smoked garlic, chilli, and bacon.
Snacks: Fruit and fat-free Greek yogurt.
