An early and quick one tonight as I am out with my lovely Mum, sister, brother in law, and of course Mr WLB for dinner…
…and we need to finalise our plans. Actually, I still need to start mine – but that’ll happen this weekend! 🙂
Tonight is all about finalising and checking your plan.
It’s fairly straightforward really – use and remember ‘CORE’:
Commitment – Are you clear about what it is that you are trying to achieve? Do you have a clear plan?
Ownership – Do you really own your plan…do you believe in it? Can anyone else sway you from your action plan?
Responsibility – Are you prepared to take responsibility for your irrational thoughts (your chimp!) and do you have plans in place to deal with this…as it will happen! 😉
Excellence – Do you know what your best looks like?
Finally – who can you ask to check your plan? Do you want someone to check it for you…or are you prepared to deal with your chimp on your own?!
That’s it. I will be having a go at my plan this weekend and am going to recap everything – I thought it was just a bit much to throw at you in one go.
I have been sent some excellent plans so far – all of which are really unique and personal…and this is what this is all about. One size does not fit all. There are key themes for me when it comes to healthy living and weight loss…sustainability being one of them. I do harp on about this but you cannot live a life of meal replacements and fads. It is far better to lose weight slowly and steadily. I will say that again – as I always used to roll my eyes when people said things like that. Slow and steady were not words I associated with weight loss, but it really is far better to lose weight slowly and steadily and to make lasting changes to habits and behaviour. Healthy living – not deprivation!
Back to the key themes – I think it’s important to remember that if you want to change, then you have to make changes. I hate seeing people tweaking meals beyond recognition and making one syn cakes full of fecking sweetener – it’s a pet hate. If you want to change your body then you might have to change the types of foods and the way in which you eat. So replacing a synful cake with a low syn cake isn’t the aim for me…the aim is to be able to enjoy a ‘normal’ portion of deliciously decadent cake rather than one that contains a chemical shit-storm of sweeteners! 😉 In an ideal world we would all be eating tasty meals based on unprocessed ingredients…but I know we don’t live in an ideal world and I know that going from what I ate when I started out, to a ‘clean’ diet within the realms of Slimming World was too big an ask. So I gradually phased out the processed stuff and it wasn’t that hard to do so.
But it really is about finding an action plan that suits you. If Alpen Light bars help you steer clear of giant family bags of chocolate, then go for the Alpen Light bar! The same goes for the one syn cakes. Just don’t forget you goal though – this is why I like to revisit my action plan and goals on a regular basis. They change. Don’t get stagnant as this is when boredom and frustration sets in. Keep challenging yourself.
Anyway – I am a tired and grumpy cow today, so I am going to sign off for the night…and am going to eat my bodyweight in carvery tonight! 🙂
